Your Safety is Our First Priority

At SJ Apex Dental, patient safety is not a checklist — it's a culture. Every instrument, every surface, every procedure follows protocols as stringent as a surgical hospital. Here's exactly what we do to protect you.

Our Safety Standards

What we do to protect every patient

🏥

Class B Autoclave Sterilisation

Every reusable instrument is sterilised in our Class B autoclave at 134°C under high pressure — the gold standard used in surgical hospitals. This kills all bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores including Hepatitis B, HIV and COVID-19.

📦

Individually Sealed Pouches

After sterilisation, instruments are sealed in individual vacuum pouches with a chemical indicator strip. The pouch is only opened at your chairside — in front of you. If it's not sealed, we don't use it.

🩺

Single-Use Disposable Items

All needles, gloves, suction tips, saliva ejectors, bibs and prophy cups are single-use and disposed of after every patient. Never reused, never recycled. Your safety is non-negotiable.

🧤

Fresh Gloves for Every Patient

A fresh pair of examination gloves is opened for every patient — every time. Our team changes gloves between every patient contact and wears face masks and eye protection during all procedures.

🌡️

Surface Disinfection Protocol

After every patient, all contact surfaces — dental chair, light handles, bracket table, headrest, drawer handles — are wiped with hospital-grade surface disinfectant and covered with fresh barrier film. The treatment room is fully reset.

💨

Air Quality Control

We use high-volume evacuators and HEPA-filtered air purifiers to minimise aerosol spread during procedures. Treatment rooms are ventilated between patients. Our air quality standards exceed standard dental clinic requirements.

🦠

WHO-Compliant Infection Control

Our infection control protocols follow World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines for dental settings — covering hand hygiene, PPE use, waste disposal, and instrument reprocessing. All staff are trained and audited regularly.

🗑️

Safe Biomedical Waste Disposal

All clinical waste — needles, gloves, swabs, disposable instruments — is segregated and disposed through a licensed biomedical waste management agency in compliance with Biomedical Waste Management Rules 2016 (India).

🔍

Regular Sterilisation Audits

We conduct weekly biological indicator tests (spore tests) on our autoclave to verify sterilisation efficacy. Results are logged and kept on record. Our sterilisation records are available for inspection on request.

Step by Step

How we sterilise every instrument

Every reusable instrument goes through a rigorous 6-step reprocessing cycle before it can be used on a patient. Here's exactly what happens:

1
Pre-soak decontamination
Used instruments are immediately placed in an enzymatic pre-soak solution to break down blood and organic matter. Soaked for minimum 10 minutes.
2
Ultrasonic cleaning
Instruments are placed in an ultrasonic cleaner — high-frequency sound waves dislodge debris from joints and crevices that hand scrubbing misses.
3
Rinse and inspection
Thoroughly rinsed with clean water. Each instrument is visually inspected for cleanliness and function. Damaged instruments are discarded.
4
Drying
Instruments are dried completely — moisture inside the autoclave can reduce sterilisation efficacy. We do not skip this step.
5
Sealed pouch packaging
Each instrument or set is placed in a sealed sterilisation pouch with a chemical indicator. The pouch is heat-sealed with the date logged.
6
Class B autoclave sterilisation
Pouches are loaded into the Class B autoclave — 134°C, 2.1 bar pressure, 18-minute cycle. Only after this cycle is an instrument considered sterile and safe for patient use.
